Should Women Shave Their Pits?

To each their own and I’m sure there are some very good lessons in teaching your children about not forcing themselves to fit into the gender roles of society, but I have to say – this conversation kind of weirds me out.  I love my free and liberal friends though.

My final verdict?  Ladies, if you don’t want to shave your pits – or any other body part for that matter – don’t.

Since my wife apparently “injured” her neck while doing the same this morning I thought I’d comment. I think being weirded out is about as nuanced an argument as it gets in this case. That new Time cover kept dancing through my head and I’d rather it didn’t. I mean, to each there own I guess, but there is still something to be said for societal norms. I like for my wife to shave even at the risk of “bodily injury” but that’s probably only because it’s what I’m used to. The norm I’m speaking of is TMI. “But mommy, I so prefer to twist your underarm hair betwixt my tiny fingers while suckling! Must you disappoint me so?” Um… I’m not that progressive I guess.

Yeah, I agree here. People can do what they want, but there is certainly a level of TMI going on. You don’t have to post everything on FB. Then again, maybe that’s completely normal and even beautiful to them – it’s all in the eye of the beholder.

I also prefer my dearest wife to shave. 🙂 I think she does too.

This is a pretty funny conversation. Ashley’s 3rd comment (“oh poor baby, it will”) cracked me up. Oh poor baby!

LOL well I’m sure these ladies appreciate your giving them permission not to shave, Atticus. 😉

    (just teasing).

These conversations really are personal, though. Reason #99 to not join Facebook.
